Even if it’s not a huge purchase, we think it was good to see that Douglas Dietrich, the CEO & Director of Minerals Technologies Inc. (NYSE:MTX) recently shelled out US$72k to buy stock, at US$47.99 per share. However, we do note that it only increased their holding by 2%, and it wasn’t a huge purchase by absolute value, either.

Notably, that recent purchase by Douglas Dietrich is the biggest insider purchase of Minerals Technologies shares that we’ve seen in the last year. While we always like to see insider buying, it’s less meaningful if the purchases were made at much lower prices, as the opportunity they saw may have passed. Happily, the Minerals Technologies insiders decided to buy shares at close to current prices.
