Have Insiders Been Selling Slack Technologies, Inc. (NYSE:WORK) Shares?

It is not uncommon to see companies perform well in the years after insiders buy shares. Unfortunately, there are also plenty of examples of share prices declining precipitously after insiders have sold shares. So before you buy or sell Slack Technologies, Inc. (NYSE:WORK), you may well want to know whether insiders have been buying or selling.

    What Is Insider Buying?

It's quite normal to see company insiders, such as board members, trading in company stock, from time to time. However, rules govern insider transactions, and certain disclosures are required.

We would never suggest that investors should base their decisions solely on what the directors of a company have been doing. But logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares. For example, a Columbia University study found that 'insiders are more likely to engage in open market purchases of their own company’s stock when the firm is about to reveal new agreements with customers and suppliers'.

Slack Technologies Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

In the last twelve months, the biggest single sale by an insider was when the Co-Founder, Daniel Butterfield, sold US$34m worth of shares at a price of US$41.66 per share. While we don't usually like to see insider selling, it's more concerning if the sales take place at a lower price. The silver lining is that this sell-down took place above the latest price (US$30.76). So it may not shed much light on insider confidence at current levels.

In the last twelve months insiders netted US$41m for 1.1m shares sold. In the last year Slack Technologies insiders didn't buy any company stock.
