CPI Card Group: Still Attractive After Q1 Profitability Lag

Summary CPI Card Group's Q1 results were quite weak. Good sales growth was offset by a significant decline in the gross margin. The 2025 guidance should be taken with some caution. The recent Arroweye acquisition is fair. While coming at an EV/EBITDA higher than CPI Card Group's own, sales and cost synergies should offset the fact. After the stock's crash, PMTS stock is very attractively priced. I estimate a 65% upside to $33.00. Read the full article on Seeking Alpha

CPI Card Group: Fair Q4 Earnings, And A Good 2025 Ahead

Summary CPI Card Group reported strong Q4 revenue growth, but profitability again slightly declined due to up-front operating expenses to support future earnings growth. The company guides for mid-to-high single-digit growth in revenues and adjusted EBITDA through 2025, in line with expectations. Positively, earnings growth is guided to converge with topline growth. I still estimate PMTS stock to be undervalued with 37% upside to a fair value of $40.9. Read the full article on Seeking Alpha

CPI Card Group's Valuation Gap Is Closing Ahead Of Growth Recovery

Summary CPI Card Group Inc.'s Q1 report showed expected sales weakness, but a demand recovery, an expanded customer deal, and Prepaid growth look to fuel a great growth recovery. CPI Card Group GAAP EPS of $0.52 beats by $0.15, revenue of $113M beats by $11.2M

CPI Card Group press release (NASDAQ:PMTS): Q2 GAAP EPS of $0.52 beats by $0.15. Revenue of $113M (+21.2% Y/Y) beats by $11.2M. The Company now expects high teens net sales growth and low double-digit Adjusted EBITDA growth for the full year, an increase from the previous outlook of low double-digit growth for net sales and mid-to-high single-digit growth for Adjusted EBITDA. The full-year Adjusted EBITDA margin is still expected to be slightly below 20%. The Company expects strong sales growth in its Debit and Credit segment for the year and Prepaid Debit segment sales near the record level in 2021.

CPI Card Group: Deep Value With Strong Expected Growth In 2022

PMTS should appreciate above $75 per share in the next 12-18 months based on the market realizing the company’s earnings power is greater than $5 per share. In 2021, over half of the company’s revenue growth came from units driven by FinTech growth, market share gains, and contactless cards expanding ASPs, which should continue for years. Buying PMTS is an alternative way to participate in FinTech growth at a discount. PMTS stock is down on the market’s misinterpretation of business cyclicality, while we believe lower Q4 21 revenue is a return to normal seasonality in the prepaid card division and revenue will grow double-digits in 2022. We believe credit card producers have pricing power due to supply chain challenges that will enable them to offset much of the inflationary pressures faced today.
