From what we can see, insiders were net sellers in Mr Price Group Limited's (JSE:MRP ) during the past 12 months. That is, insiders sold the stock in greater numbers than they purchased it.

While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares.

Mr Price Group Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

The Honorary Chairman & Co-Founder, Stewart Cohen, made the biggest insider sale in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for R42m worth of shares at a price of R213 each. So what is clear is that an insider saw fit to sell at around the current price of R213. While we don't usually like to see insider selling, it's more concerning if the sales take place at a lower price. In this case, the big sale took place at around the current price, so it's not too bad (but it's still not a positive). Stewart Cohen was the only individual insider to sell over the last year.

We've certainly seen higher levels of insider ownership elsewhere, but these holdings are enough to suggest alignment between insiders and the other shareholders.
