PSG Konsult (JSE:KST) Is Paying Out A Larger Dividend Than Last Year
PSG Konsult Limited (JSE:KST) will increase its dividend on the 7th of November to ZAR0.11, which is 10.0% higher than last year's payment from the same period of ZAR0.10. This takes the annual payment to 2.9% of the current stock price, which unfortunately is below what the industry is paying.
Our analysis indicates that KST is potentially overvalued!
PSG Konsult's Earnings Easily Cover The Distributions
The dividend yield is a little bit low, but sustainability of the payments is also an important part of evaluating an income stock. The last dividend was quite easily covered by PSG Konsult's earnings. This indicates that quite a large proportion of earnings is being invested back into the business.
Looking forward, earnings per share could rise by 12.9% over the next year if the trend from the last few years continues. If the dividend continues along recent trends, we estimate the payout ratio will be 46%, which is in the range that makes us comfortable with the sustainability of the dividend.
PSG Konsult Is Still Building Its Track Record
PSG Konsult's dividend has been pretty stable for a little while now, but we will continue to be cautious until it has been demonstrated for a few more years. Since 2014, the dividend has gone from ZAR0.08 total annually to ZAR0.32. This means that it has been growing its distributions at 19% per annum over that time. The dividend has been growing rapidly, however with such a short payment history we can't know for sure if payment can continue to grow over the long term, so caution may be warranted.
The Dividend Looks Likely To Grow
Investors could be attracted to the stock based on the quality of its payment history. PSG Konsult has impressed us by growing EPS at 13% per year over the past five years. Earnings are on the uptrend, and it is only paying a small portion of those earnings to shareholders.
We Really Like PSG Konsult's Dividend
In summary, it is always positive to see the dividend being increased, and we are particularly pleased with its overall sustainability. Earnings are easily covering distributions, and the company is generating plenty of cash. All of these factors considered, we think this has solid potential as a dividend stock.
Companies possessing a stable dividend policy will likely enjoy greater investor interest than those suffering from a more inconsistent approach. At the same time, there are other factors our readers should be conscious of before pouring capital into a stock.
