US Stock Market Today: S&P 500 Futures Rise as Rate Cut Bets Strengthen

Simply Wall St

The Morning Bull - US Market Morning Update Thursday, Nov, 13 2025

US stock futures are pointing higher this morning, after the government reopened and the 10-year Treasury yield ticked up to 4.09%. That increase in borrowing costs comes as a direct result of President Trump signing the bill to end the record 43-day shutdown. This is now sparking talk that the Federal Reserve may be more likely to cut interest rates in December, with markets putting the odds at around 60%. At the same time, fresh figures show that hiring is slowing, with job cuts averaging more than 11,000 a week. The big question on investors’ minds is whether rising rates and a lighter job market will force the Fed to act, putting sectors like banks and interest-rate sensitive stocks in the spotlight as all eyes turn to upcoming economic data.
