System1, Inc. (NYSE:SST) Looks Inexpensive But Perhaps Not Attractive Enough

What Does System1's P/S Mean For Shareholders?

System1 could be doing better as its revenue has been going backwards lately while most other companies have been seeing positive revenue growth. System1's P/S ratio would be typical for a company that's only expected to deliver limited growth, and importantly, perform worse than the industry.

In reviewing the last year of financials, we were disheartened to see the company's revenues fell to the tune of 18%. As a result, revenue from three years ago have also fallen 42% overall. Accordingly, shareholders would have felt downbeat about the medium-term rates of revenue growth.

Shifting to the future, estimates from the one analyst covering the company suggest revenue should grow by 0.6% over the next year. Meanwhile, the rest of the industry is forecast to expand by 14%, which is noticeably more attractive.

In light of this, it's understandable that System1's P/S sits below the majority of other companies. It seems most investors are expecting to see limited future growth and are only willing to pay a reduced amount for the stock.
