Have Insiders Been Buying Creatd Inc. (NASDAQ:CRTD) Shares?
It is not uncommon to see companies perform well in the years after insiders buy shares. Unfortunately, there are also plenty of examples of share prices declining precipitously after insiders have sold shares. So we'll take a look at whether insiders have been buying or selling shares in Creatd Inc. (NASDAQ:CRTD).
What Is Insider Buying?
It's quite normal to see company insiders, such as board members, trading in company stock, from time to time. However, most countries require that the company discloses such transactions to the market.
Insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing. But logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares. For example, a Columbia University study found that 'insiders are more likely to engage in open market purchases of their own company’s stock when the firm is about to reveal new agreements with customers and suppliers'.

Creatd Insider Transactions Over The Last Year
In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when Independent Director Mark Patterson bought US$141k worth of shares at a price of US$3.55 per share. Even though the purchase was made at a significantly lower price than the recent price (US$5.79), we still think insider buying is a positive. Because the shares were purchased at a lower price, this particular buy doesn't tell us much about how insiders feel about the current share price.
Creatd insiders may have bought shares in the last year, but they didn't sell any. The average buy price was around US$4.09. To my mind it is good that insiders have invested their own money in the company. However, you should keep in mind that they bought when the share price was meaningfully below today's levels. Insiders at Creatd Have Bought Stock Recently
Over the last three months, we've seen significant insider buying at Creatd. In total, insiders bought US$365k worth of shares in that time, and we didn't record any sales whatsoever. This is a positive in our book as it implies some confidence.
Insider Ownership of Creatd
For a common shareholder, it is worth checking how many shares are held by company insiders. A high insider ownership often makes company leadership more mindful of shareholder interests. Creatd insiders own 42% of the company, currently worth about US$21m based on the recent share price. This kind of significant ownership by insiders does generally increase the chance that the company is run in the interest of all shareholders.
So What Does This Data Suggest About Creatd Insiders?
It's certainly positive to see the recent insider purchases. And the longer term insider transactions also give us confidence. But on the other hand, the company made a loss during the last year, which makes us a little cautious. Along with the high insider ownership, this analysis suggests that insiders are quite bullish about Creatd. Nice!
