DarioHealth Corp. (NASDAQ:DRIO) shareholders that were waiting for something to happen have been dealt a blow with a 28% share price drop in the last month. The recent drop completes a disastrous twelve months for shareholders, who are sitting on a 52% loss during that time.

Since its price has dipped substantially, DarioHealth may be sending buy signals at present with its price-to-sales (or "P/S") ratio of 2.9x, considering almost half of all companies in the Medical Equipment industry in the United States have P/S ratios greater than 3.7x and even P/S higher than 8x aren't out of the ordinary. However, the P/S might be low for a reason and it requires further investigation to determine if it's justified.

What Does DarioHealth's Recent Performance Look Like?

Recent times haven't been great for DarioHealth as its revenue has been rising slower than most other companies. It seems that many are expecting the uninspiring revenue performance to persist, which has repressed the growth of the P/S ratio. If this is the case, then existing shareholders will probably struggle to get excited about the future direction of the share price.

Is There Any Revenue Growth Forecasted For DarioHealth?

In order to justify its P/S ratio, DarioHealth would need to produce sluggish growth that's trailing the industry.

Taking a look back first, we see that the company managed to grow revenues by a handy 2.8% last year. The latest three year period has also seen an excellent 274% overall rise in revenue, aided somewhat by its short-term performance. Therefore, it's fair to say the revenue growth recently has been superb for the company.

Turning to the outlook, the next three years should generate growth of 41% per year as estimated by the five analysts watching the company. That's shaping up to be materially higher than the 12% per year growth forecast for the broader industry.

In light of this, it's peculiar that DarioHealth's P/S sits below the majority of other companies. It looks like most investors are not convinced at all that the company can achieve future growth expectations.

What Does DarioHealth's P/S Mean For Investors?

DarioHealth's recently weak share price has pulled its P/S back below other Medical Equipment companies. It's argued the price-to-sales ratio is an inferior measure of value within certain industries, but it can be a powerful business sentiment indicator.

A look at DarioHealth's revenues reveals that, despite glowing future growth forecasts, its P/S is much lower than we'd expect. There could be some major risk factors that are placing downward pressure on the P/S ratio. While the possibility of the share price plunging seems unlikely due to the high growth forecasted for the company, the market does appear to have some hesitation.
