We've lost count of how many times insiders have accumulated shares in a company that goes on to improve markedly. On the other hand, we'd be remiss not to mention that insider sales have been known to precede tough periods for a business. So before you buy or sell Avalon GloboCare Corp. (NASDAQ:AVCO), you may well want to know whether insiders have been buying or selling.

What Is Insider Buying?

It's quite normal to see company insiders, such as board members, trading in company stock, from time to time. However, most countries require that the company discloses such transactions to the market.

We don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions. But logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares. For example, a Columbia University study found that 'insiders are more likely to engage in open market purchases of their own company’s stock when the firm is about to reveal new agreements with customers and suppliers'.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Avalon GloboCare

In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when Chairman of the Board Wenzhao Lu bought US$1m worth of shares at a price of US$1.55 per share. That means that even when the share price was higher than US$1.24 (the recent price), an insider wanted to purchase shares. While their view may have changed since the purchase was made, this does at least suggest they have had confidence in the company's future. To us, it's very important to consider the price insiders pay for shares. As a general rule, we feel more positive about a stock when an insider has bought shares at above current prices, because that suggests they viewed the stock as good value, even at a higher price. Wenzhao Lu was the only individual insider to buy shares in the last twelve months.

Insider Ownership of Avalon GloboCare

Another way to test the alignment between the leaders of a company and other shareholders is to look at how many shares they own. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. Avalon GloboCare insiders own about US$67m worth of shares (which is 67% of the company). I like to see this level of insider ownership, because it increases the chances that management are thinking about the best interests of shareholders.
