Analysts Have Made A Financial Statement On Global Business Travel Group, Inc.'s (NYSE:GBTG) Full-Year Report
Last week, you might have seen that Global Business Travel Group, Inc. (NYSE:GBTG) released its annual result to the market. The early response was not positive, with shares down 2.8% to US$8.31 in the past week. Revenues were in line with expectations, at US$2.4b, while statutory losses ballooned to US$0.30 per share. This is an important time for investors, as they can track a company's performance in its report, look at what experts are forecasting for next year, and see if there has been any change to expectations for the business. So we collected the latest post-earnings statutory consensus estimates to see what could be in store for next year.
Check out our latest analysis for Global Business Travel Group
After the latest results, the six analysts covering Global Business Travel Group are now predicting revenues of US$2.54b in 2025. If met, this would reflect a modest 4.8% improvement in revenue compared to the last 12 months. Global Business Travel Group is also expected to turn profitable, with statutory earnings of US$0.32 per share. Before this earnings report, the analysts had been forecasting revenues of US$2.57b and earnings per share (EPS) of US$0.26 in 2025. Although the revenue estimates have not really changed, we can see there's been a considerable lift to earnings per share expectations, suggesting that the analysts have become more bullish after the latest result.
The consensus price target was unchanged at US$10.43, implying that the improved earnings outlook is not expected to have a long term impact on value creation for shareholders. That's not the only conclusion we can draw from this data however, as some investors also like to consider the spread in estimates when evaluating analyst price targets. The most optimistic Global Business Travel Group analyst has a price target of US$11.00 per share, while the most pessimistic values it at US$9.00. Still, with such a tight range of estimates, it suggeststhe analysts have a pretty good idea of what they think the company is worth.
Of course, another way to look at these forecasts is to place them into context against the industry itself. We would highlight that Global Business Travel Group's revenue growth is expected to slow, with the forecast 4.8% annualised growth rate until the end of 2025 being well below the historical 18% p.a. growth over the last five years. By way of comparison, the other companies in this industry with analyst coverage are forecast to grow their revenue at 9.7% per year. Factoring in the forecast slowdown in growth, it seems obvious that Global Business Travel Group is also expected to grow slower than other industry participants.
The Bottom Line
The biggest takeaway for us is the consensus earnings per share upgrade, which suggests a clear improvement in sentiment around Global Business Travel Group's earnings potential next year. Fortunately, the analysts also reconfirmed their revenue estimates, suggesting that it's tracking in line with expectations. Although our data does suggest that Global Business Travel Group's revenue is expected to perform worse than the wider industry. The consensus price target held steady at US$10.43, with the latest estimates not enough to have an impact on their price targets.
Following on from that line of thought, we think that the long-term prospects of the business are much more relevant than next year's earnings.
