If EPS Growth Is Important To You, FIGS (NYSE:FIGS) Presents An Opportunity
It's common for many investors, especially those who are inexperienced, to buy shares in companies with a good story even if these companies are loss-making. Unfortunately, these high risk investments often have little probability of ever paying off, and many investors pay a price to learn their lesson. Loss-making companies are always racing against time to reach financial sustainability, so investors in these companies may be taking on more risk than they should.
If this kind of company isn't your style, you like companies that generate revenue, and even earn profits, then you may well be interested in FIGS (NYSE:FIGS). Even if this company is fairly valued by the market, investors would agree that generating consistent profits will continue to provide FIGS with the means to add long-term value to shareholders.

FIGS' Improving Profits
Over the last three years, FIGS has grown earnings per share (EPS) at as impressive rate from a relatively low point, resulting in a three year percentage growth rate that isn't particularly indicative of expected future performance. So it would be better to isolate the growth rate over the last year for our analysis. FIGS' EPS shot up from US$0.084 to US$0.11; a result that's bound to keep shareholders happy. That's a impressive gain of 31%.
Careful consideration of revenue growth and earnings before interest and taxation (EBIT) margins can help inform a view on the sustainability of the recent profit growth. FIGS maintained stable EBIT margins over the last year, all while growing revenue 3.6% to US$551m. That's encouraging news for the company!

Are FIGS Insiders Aligned With All Shareholders?
It's pleasing to see company leaders with putting their money on the line, so to speak, because it increases alignment of incentives between the people running the business, and its true owners. FIGS followers will find comfort in knowing that insiders have a significant amount of capital that aligns their best interests with the wider shareholder group. Notably, they have an enviable stake in the company, worth US$283m. Coming in at 25% of the business, that holding gives insiders a lot of influence, and plenty of reason to generate value for shareholders. Very encouraging.
Does FIGS Deserve A Spot On Your Watchlist?
If you believe that share price follows earnings per share you should definitely be delving further into FIGS' strong EPS growth. Further, the high level of insider ownership is impressive and suggests that the management appreciates the EPS growth and has faith in FIGS' continuing strength. Fast growth and confident insiders should be enough to warrant further research, so it would seem that it's a good stock to follow. One of Buffett's considerations when discussing businesses is if they are capital light or capital intensive. Generally, a company with a high return on equity is capital light, and can thus fund growth more easily.
