Results: Standex International Corporation Beat Earnings Expectations And Analysts Now Have New Forecasts
As you might know, Standex International Corporation (NYSE:SXI) just kicked off its latest quarterly results with some very strong numbers. The company beat both earnings and revenue forecasts, with revenue of US$184m, some 3.5% above estimates, and statutory earnings per share (EPS) coming in at US$6.77, 331% ahead of expectations. This is an important time for investors, as they can track a company's performance in its report, look at what experts are forecasting for next year, and see if there has been any change to expectations for the business. So we collected the latest post-earnings statutory consensus estimates to see what could be in store for next year.

Following the latest results, Standex International's three analysts are now forecasting revenues of US$765.2m in 2024. This would be a reasonable 3.8% improvement in sales compared to the last 12 months. Statutory earnings per share are expected to dive 34% to US$7.33 in the same period. In the lead-up to this report, the analysts had been modelling revenues of US$771.4m and earnings per share (EPS) of US$7.40 in 2024. The consensus analysts don't seem to have seen anything in these results that would have changed their view on the business, given there's been no major change to their estimates.
With the analysts reconfirming their revenue and earnings forecasts, it's surprising to see that the price target rose 6.2% to US$143. It looks as though they previously had some doubts over whether the business would live up to their expectations. That's not the only conclusion we can draw from this data however, as some investors also like to consider the spread in estimates when evaluating analyst price targets. Currently, the most bullish analyst values Standex International at US$150 per share, while the most bearish prices it at US$140. Still, with such a tight range of estimates, it suggeststhe analysts have a pretty good idea of what they think the company is worth.
Of course, another way to look at these forecasts is to place them into context against the industry itself. It's clear from the latest estimates that Standex International's rate of growth is expected to accelerate meaningfully, with the forecast 3.0% annualised revenue growth to the end of 2024 noticeably faster than its historical growth of 1.4% p.a. over the past five years. By contrast, our data suggests that other companies (with analyst coverage) in a similar industry are forecast to grow their revenue at 4.8% per year. So it's clear that despite the acceleration in growth, Standex International is expected to grow meaningfully slower than the industry average.
The Bottom Line
The most important thing to take away is that there's been no major change in sentiment, with the analysts reconfirming that the business is performing in line with their previous earnings per share estimates. On the plus side, there were no major changes to revenue estimates; although forecasts imply revenues will perform worse than the wider industry. There was also a nice increase in the price target, with the analysts clearly feeling that the intrinsic value of the business is improving.
With that said, the long-term trajectory of the company's earnings is a lot more important than next year. We have forecasts for Standex International going out to 2024, and you can see them free on our platform here.
