Microvast Holdings: Sell The Rally On Persistent Funding Needs
Summary Beleaguered lithium-ion battery manufacturer Microvast Holdings surprised market participants with profitable third quarter results, thus causing a 600% rally in the company's common shares. A combination of higher sales and recent cost savings initiatives resulted in the company's first profitable quarter ever. However, free cash flow remained negative, and the company guided for Q4 revenues to decrease sequentially. In addition, backlog decreased to a new twelve-month low. The massive move in Microvast's shares has provided a window of opportunity to address some of the company's substantial funding needs. For my part, I would expect MVST to file for a secondary offering sooner rather than later, which in turn could negatively impact the company's stock price.
