From what we can see, insiders were net buyers in FTAI Aviation Ltd.'s (NASDAQ:FTAI ) during the past 12 months. That is, insiders acquired the stock in greater numbers than they sold it.

While we would never suggest that investors should base their decisions solely on what the directors of a company have been doing, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At FTAI Aviation

In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when Chairman & CEO Joseph Adams bought US$4.8m worth of shares at a price of US$82.00 per share. We do like to see buying, but this purchase was made at well below the current price of US$130. Because the shares were purchased at a lower price, this particular buy doesn't tell us much about how insiders feel about the current share price.

Another way to test the alignment between the leaders of a company and other shareholders is to look at how many shares they own. A high insider ownership often makes company leadership more mindful of shareholder interests. It's great to see that FTAI Aviation insiders own 1.4% of the company, worth about US$183m. This kind of significant ownership by insiders does generally increase the chance that the company is run in the interest of all shareholders.
