Columbus McKinnon: Not Enough Growth To Answer Concerns About Leverage And Integration Risk

Summary Columbus McKinnon reported sluggish underlying volume growth in its fiscal fourth quarter, and guidance suggests modest core '27 growth despite improving short-cycle trends. Automation demand trends appear to be healthy, but weaker overall manufacturing and warehouse construction spending, as well as cautious industrial capex, are risks that need to be monitored. Deleveraging will dominate capital allocation for years; current valuation implies meaningful skepticism about achieving margin and growth targets. If mid-single-digit revenue growth and low-20's EBITDA margins are still credible targets, the shares are meaningfully undervalued, but the Street needs to see more progress on margin leverage and synergy. Despite recent declines in revenue and profitability, Columbus McKinnon remains a 'buy' due to management's commitment to long-term growth and appealing share prices. Management's strategy includes organic and inorganic growth, cost-cutting, and productivity improvements, aiming for significant revenue and EBITDA margin increases by the 2027 fiscal year. Potential risks include economic downturns and geopolitical issues, but shares are attractively priced based on forward-looking management plans, justifying a 'buy' rating.
