Parpro Corporation (TWSE:4916) shareholders have had their patience rewarded with a 27% share price jump in the last month. Unfortunately, despite the strong performance over the last month, the full year gain of 2.0% isn't as attractive.

Even after such a large jump in price, Parpro may still be sending buy signals at present with its price-to-sales (or "P/S") ratio of 1x, considering almost half of all companies in the Hospitality industry in Taiwan have P/S ratios greater than 1.6x and even P/S higher than 4x aren't out of the ordinary. Although, it's not wise to just take the P/S at face value as there may be an explanation why it's limited.

What Does Parpro's P/S Mean For Shareholders?

The revenue growth achieved at Parpro over the last year would be more than acceptable for most companies. Perhaps the market is expecting this acceptable revenue performance to take a dive, which has kept the P/S suppressed. If you like the company, you'd be hoping this isn't the case so that you could potentially pick up some stock while it's out of favour.

Although there are no analyst estimates available for Parpro, take a look at this free data-rich visualisation to see how the company stacks up on earnings, revenue and cash flow.

How Is Parpro's Revenue Growth Trending?

In order to justify its P/S ratio, Parpro would need to produce sluggish growth that's trailing the industry.

Retrospectively, the last year delivered a decent 9.2% gain to the company's revenues. This was backed up an excellent period prior to see revenue up by 72% in total over the last three years. Accordingly, shareholders would have definitely welcomed those medium-term rates of revenue growth.

When compared to the industry's one-year growth forecast of 6.5%, the most recent medium-term revenue trajectory is noticeably more alluring

With this in mind, we find it intriguing that Parpro's P/S isn't as high compared to that of its industry peers. Apparently some shareholders believe the recent performance has exceeded its limits and have been accepting significantly lower selling prices.

The Final Word

Despite Parpro's share price climbing recently, its P/S still lags most other companies. Using the price-to-sales ratio alone to determine if you should sell your stock isn't sensible, however it can be a practical guide to the company's future prospects.

Our examination of Parpro revealed its three-year revenue trends aren't boosting its P/S anywhere near as much as we would have predicted, given they look better than current industry expectations. When we see robust revenue growth that outpaces the industry, we presume that there are notable underlying risks to the company's future performance, which is exerting downward pressure on the P/S ratio. It appears many are indeed anticipating revenue instability, because the persistence of these recent medium-term conditions would normally provide a boost to the share price.
