As you might know, Munters Group AB (publ) (STO:MTRS) last week released its latest first-quarter, and things did not turn out so great for shareholders. Munters Group missed earnings this time around, with kr3.5b revenue coming in 3.6% below what the analysts had modelled. Statutory earnings per share (EPS) of kr1.19 also fell short of expectations by 18%. This is an important time for investors, as they can track a company's performance in its report, look at what experts are forecasting for next year, and see if there has been any change to expectations for the business. We thought readers would find it interesting to see the analysts latest (statutory) post-earnings forecasts for next year.

Taking into account the latest results, the consensus forecast from Munters Group's five analysts is for revenues of kr16.1b in 2024. This reflects a decent 13% improvement in revenue compared to the last 12 months. Per-share earnings are expected to shoot up 58% to kr6.83. In the lead-up to this report, the analysts had been modelling revenues of kr15.9b and earnings per share (EPS) of kr6.98 in 2024. The analysts seem to have become a little more negative on the business after the latest results, given the small dip in their earnings per share numbers for next year.

It might be a surprise to learn that the consensus price target was broadly unchanged at kr196, with the analysts clearly implying that the forecast decline in earnings is not expected to have much of an impact on valuation. Fixating on a single price target can be unwise though, since the consensus target is effectively the average of analyst price targets. As a result, some investors like to look at the range of estimates to see if there are any diverging opinions on the company's valuation. Currently, the most bullish analyst values Munters Group at kr225 per share, while the most bearish prices it at kr180. The narrow spread of estimates could suggest that the business' future is relatively easy to value, or thatthe analysts have a strong view on its prospects.

Looking at the bigger picture now, one of the ways we can make sense of these forecasts is to see how they measure up against both past performance and industry growth estimates. We can infer from the latest estimates that forecasts expect a continuation of Munters Group'shistorical trends, as the 17% annualised revenue growth to the end of 2024 is roughly in line with the 17% annual growth over the past five years. Compare this with the broader industry, which analyst estimates (in aggregate) suggest will see revenues grow 5.8% annually. So it's pretty clear that Munters Group is forecast to grow substantially faster than its industry.

The Bottom Line

The biggest concern is that the analysts reduced their earnings per share estimates, suggesting business headwinds could lay ahead for Munters Group. Happily, there were no major changes to revenue forecasts, with the business still expected to grow faster than the wider industry. There was no real change to the consensus price target, suggesting that the intrinsic value of the business has not undergone any major changes with the latest estimates.

With that said, the long-term trajectory of the company's earnings is a lot more important than next year. We have estimates - from multiple Munters Group analysts - going out to 2026, and you can see them free on our platform here.
