SFD (WSE:SFD) Ticks All The Boxes When It Comes To Earnings Growth
The excitement of investing in a company that can reverse its fortunes is a big draw for some speculators, so even companies that have no revenue, no profit, and a record of falling short, can manage to find investors. Sometimes these stories can cloud the minds of investors, leading them to invest with their emotions rather than on the merit of good company fundamentals. A loss-making company is yet to prove itself with profit, and eventually the inflow of external capital may dry up.
If this kind of company isn't your style, you like companies that generate revenue, and even earn profits, then you may well be interested in SFD (WSE:SFD). While this doesn't necessarily speak to whether it's undervalued, the profitability of the business is enough to warrant some appreciation - especially if its growing.

SFD's Improving Profits
In the last three years SFD's earnings per share took off; so much so that it's a bit disingenuous to use these figures to try and deduce long term estimates. As a result, we'll zoom in on growth over the last year, instead. SFD boosted its trailing twelve month EPS from zł0.25 to zł0.29, in the last year. That's a 17% gain; respectable growth in the broader scheme of things.
One way to double-check a company's growth is to look at how its revenue, and earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) margins are changing. EBIT margins for SFD remained fairly unchanged over the last year, however the company should be pleased to report its revenue growth for the period of 33% to zł327m. That's a real positive.
In the chart below, you can see how the company has grown earnings and revenue, over time. For finer detail, click on the image.
SFD isn't a huge company, given its market capitalisation of zł179m. That makes it extra important to check on its balance sheet strength.
Are SFD Insiders Aligned With All Shareholders?
Seeing insiders owning a large portion of the shares on issue is often a good sign. Their incentives will be aligned with the investors and there's less of a probability in a sudden sell-off that would impact the share price. So those who are interested in SFD will be delighted to know that insiders have shown their belief, holding a large proportion of the company's shares. To be exact, company insiders hold 76% of the company, so their decisions have a significant impact on their investments. Intuition will tell you this is a good sign because it suggests they will be incentivised to build value for shareholders over the long term. To give you an idea, the value of insiders' holdings in the business are valued at zł136m at the current share price. That should be more than enough to keep them focussed on creating shareholder value!
Does SFD Deserve A Spot On Your Watchlist?
As previously touched on, SFD is a growing business, which is encouraging. To add an extra spark to the fire, significant insider ownership in the company is another highlight. These two factors are a huge highlight for the company which should be a strong contender your watchlists. Still, you should learn about the 4 warning signs we've spotted with SFD (including 2 which are a bit unpleasant).
