It's only natural that many investors, especially those who are new to the game, prefer to buy shares in 'sexy' stocks with a good story, even if those businesses lose money. Unfortunately, high risk investments often have little probability of ever paying off, and many investors pay a price to learn their lesson.
In contrast to all that, I prefer to spend time on companies like 11 bit studios (WSE:11B), which has not only revenues, but also profits. While profit is not necessarily a social good, it's easy to admire a business that can consistently produce it. In comparison, loss making companies act like a sponge for capital - but unlike such a sponge they do not always produce something when squeezed.

11 bit studios's Improving Profits
Over the last three years, 11 bit studios has grown earnings per share (EPS) like young bamboo after rain; fast, and from a low base. So I don't think the percent growth rate is particularly meaningful. Thus, it makes sense to focus on more recent growth rates, instead. Like a firecracker arcing through the night sky, 11 bit studios's EPS shot from zł7.69 to zł19.67, over the last year. You don't see 156% year-on-year growth like that, very often. The best case scenario? That the business has hit a true inflection point.
Careful consideration of revenue growth and earnings before interest and taxation (EBIT) margins can help inform a view on the sustainability of the recent profit growth. 11 bit studios shareholders can take confidence from the fact that EBIT margins are up from 33% to 53%, and revenue is growing. That's great to see, on both counts.

Are 11 bit studios Insiders Aligned With All Shareholders?
I like company leaders to have some skin in the game, so to speak, because it increases alignment of incentives between the people running the business, and its true owners. So it is good to see that 11 bit studios insiders have a significant amount of capital invested in the stock. To be specific, they have zł174m worth of shares. That shows significant buy-in, and may indicate conviction in the business strategy. That amounts to 16% of the company, demonstrating a degree of high-level alignment with shareholders.
It means a lot to see insiders invested in the business, but I find myself wondering if remuneration policies are shareholder friendly. Well, based on the CEO pay, I'd say they are indeed. For companies with market capitalizations between zł733m and zł2.9b, like 11 bit studios, the median CEO pay is around zł1.7m.
The CEO of 11 bit studios only received zł770k in total compensation for the year ending . That looks like modest pay to me, and may hint at a certain respect for the interests of shareholders. CEO compensation is hardly the most important aspect of a company to consider, but when its reasonable that does give me a little more confidence that leadership are looking out for shareholder interests. It can also be a sign of good governance, more generally.
Should You Add 11 bit studios To Your Watchlist?
11 bit studios's earnings have taken off like any random crypto-currency did, back in 2017. The cherry on top is that insiders own a bucket-load of shares, and the CEO pay seems really quite reasonable. The strong EPS improvement suggests the businesses is humming along. Big growth can make big winners, so I do think 11 bit studios is worth considering carefully. You still need to take note of risks, for example - 11 bit studios has 2 warning signs (and 1 which doesn't sit too well with us) we think you should know about.
Although 11 bit studios certainly looks good to me, I would like it more if insiders were buying up shares. If you like to see insider buying, too, then this free list of growing companies that insiders are buying, could be exactly what you're looking for.
