The excitement of investing in a company that can reverse its fortunes is a big draw for some speculators, so even companies that have no revenue, no profit, and a record of falling short, can manage to find investors. Sometimes these stories can cloud the minds of investors, leading them to invest with their emotions rather than on the merit of good company fundamentals. Loss-making companies are always racing against time to reach financial sustainability, so investors in these companies may be taking on more risk than they should.

Despite being in the age of tech-stock blue-sky investing, many investors still adopt a more traditional strategy; buying shares in profitable companies like JWW Invest (WSE:JWW). While profit isn't the sole metric that should be considered when investing, it's worth recognising businesses that can consistently produce it.

How Fast Is JWW Invest Growing Its Earnings Per Share?

In the last three years JWW Invest's earnings per share took off; so much so that it's a bit disingenuous to use these figures to try and deduce long term estimates. As a result, we'll zoom in on growth over the last year, instead. In impressive fashion, JWW Invest's EPS grew from zł0.32 to zł0.60, over the previous 12 months. It's a rarity to see 88% year-on-year growth like that. The best case scenario? That the business has hit a true inflection point.

Careful consideration of revenue growth and earnings before interest and taxation (EBIT) margins can help inform a view on the sustainability of the recent profit growth. EBIT margins for JWW Invest remained fairly unchanged over the last year, however the company should be pleased to report its revenue growth for the period of 55% to zł134m. That's a real positive.

Since JWW Invest is no giant, with a market capitalisation of zł41m, you should definitely check its cash and debt before getting too excited about its prospects.

Are JWW Invest Insiders Aligned With All Shareholders?

Seeing insiders owning a large portion of the shares on issue is often a good sign. Their incentives will be aligned with the investors and there's less of a probability in a sudden sell-off that would impact the share price. So those who are interested in JWW Invest will be delighted to know that insiders have shown their belief, holding a large proportion of the company's shares. To be exact, company insiders hold 70% of the company, so their decisions have a significant impact on their investments. This makes it apparent they will be incentivised to plan for the long term - a positive for shareholders with a sit and hold strategy. Valued at only zł41m JWW Invest is really small for a listed company. That means insiders only have zł28m worth of shares, despite the large proportional holding. That's not a huge stake in absolute terms, but it should help keep insiders aligned with other shareholders.
