Insiders who bought Norske Skog ASA (OB:NSKOG) stock in the last 12 months were richly rewarded last week. The company's market value increased by kr293m as a result of the stock's 16% gain over the same period. In other words, the original kr2.22m purchase is now worth kr2.66m.

While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.

Norske Skog Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

The Independent Chair of the Board Arvid Grundekjon made the biggest insider purchase in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for kr1.2m worth of shares at a price of kr20.29 each. We do like to see buying, but this purchase was made at well below the current price of kr24.80. Because it occurred at a lower valuation, it doesn't tell us much about whether insiders might find today's price attractive.
