One thing we could say about the analysts on Pyrum Innovations AG (OB:PYRUM) - they aren't optimistic, having just made a major negative revision to their near-term (statutory) forecasts for the organization. Revenue and earnings per share (EPS) forecasts were both revised downwards, with the analysts seeing grey clouds on the horizon.

Following the downgrade, the consensus from two analysts covering Pyrum Innovations is for revenues of €3.7m in 2024, implying a substantial 71% decline in sales compared to the last 12 months. Losses are supposed to balloon 33% to €3.93 per share. However, before this estimates update, the consensus had been expecting revenues of €5.3m and €3.23 per share in losses. So there's been quite a change-up of views after the recent consensus updates, with the analysts making a serious cut to their revenue forecasts while also expecting losses per share to increase.

Looking at the bigger picture now, one of the ways we can make sense of these forecasts is to see how they measure up against both past performance and industry growth estimates. These estimates imply that sales are expected to slow, with a forecast annualised revenue decline of 71% by the end of 2024. This indicates a significant reduction from annual growth of 46% over the last five years. By contrast, our data suggests that other companies (with analyst coverage) in the same industry are forecast to see their revenue grow 5.3% annually for the foreseeable future. So although its revenues are forecast to shrink, this cloud does not come with a silver lining - Pyrum Innovations is expected to lag the wider industry.

The Bottom Line

The most important thing to take away is that analysts increased their loss per share estimates for this year. Regrettably, they also downgraded their revenue estimates, and the latest forecasts imply the business will grow sales slower than the wider market. Given the serious cut to this year's outlook, it's clear that analysts have turned more bearish on Pyrum Innovations, and we wouldn't blame shareholders for feeling a little more cautious themselves.

Even so, the longer term trajectory of the business is much more important for the value creation of shareholders. We have analyst estimates for Pyrum Innovations going out as far as 2026, and you can see them free on our platform here.
