Market Cool On Nordic Unmanned ASA's (OB:NUMND) Revenues Pushing Shares 63% Lower
Unfortunately for some shareholders, the Nordic Unmanned ASA (OB:NUMND) share price has dived 63% in the last thirty days, prolonging recent pain. The recent drop completes a disastrous twelve months for shareholders, who are sitting on a 94% loss during that time.
After such a large drop in price, Nordic Unmanned may be sending buy signals at present with its price-to-sales (or "P/S") ratio of 0.1x, considering almost half of all companies in the Aerospace & Defense industry in Norway have P/S ratios greater than 1.7x and even P/S higher than 4x aren't out of the ordinary. However, the P/S might be low for a reason and it requires further investigation to determine if it's justified.

How Has Nordic Unmanned Performed Recently?
Nordic Unmanned has been doing a decent job lately as it's been growing revenue at a reasonable pace. It might be that many expect the respectable revenue performance to degrade, which has repressed the P/S. If you like the company, you'd be hoping this isn't the case so that you could potentially pick up some stock while it's out of favour.
We don't have analyst forecasts, but you can see how recent trends are setting up the company for the future by checking out our free report on Nordic Unmanned's earnings, revenue and cash flow.Do Revenue Forecasts Match The Low P/S Ratio?
In order to justify its P/S ratio, Nordic Unmanned would need to produce sluggish growth that's trailing the industry.
Taking a look back first, we see that the company managed to grow revenues by a handy 6.2% last year. Pleasingly, revenue has also lifted 128% in aggregate from three years ago, partly thanks to the last 12 months of growth. Accordingly, shareholders would have definitely welcomed those medium-term rates of revenue growth.
This is in contrast to the rest of the industry, which is expected to grow by 16% over the next year, materially lower than the company's recent medium-term annualised growth rates.
With this information, we find it odd that Nordic Unmanned is trading at a P/S lower than the industry. It looks like most investors are not convinced the company can maintain its recent growth rates.
The Final Word
Nordic Unmanned's P/S has taken a dip along with its share price. While the price-to-sales ratio shouldn't be the defining factor in whether you buy a stock or not, it's quite a capable barometer of revenue expectations.
We're very surprised to see Nordic Unmanned currently trading on a much lower than expected P/S since its recent three-year growth is higher than the wider industry forecast. Potential investors that are sceptical over continued revenue performance may be preventing the P/S ratio from matching previous strong performance. While recent revenue trends over the past medium-term suggest that the risk of a price decline is low, investors appear to perceive a likelihood of revenue fluctuations in the future.
