Here's Why I Think KTB Investment & Securities (KRX:030210) Is An Interesting Stock

Like a puppy chasing its tail, some new investors often chase 'the next big thing', even if that means buying 'story stocks' without revenue, let alone profit. Unfortunately, high risk investments often have little probability of ever paying off, and many investors pay a price to learn their lesson.

So if you're like me, you might be more interested in profitable, growing companies, like KTB Investment & Securities (KRX:030210). Now, I'm not saying that the stock is necessarily undervalued today; but I can't shake an appreciation for the profitability of the business itself. Conversely, a loss-making company is yet to prove itself with profit, and eventually the sweet milk of external capital may run sour.

How Quickly Is KTB Investment & Securities Increasing Earnings Per Share?

As one of my mentors once told me, share price follows earnings per share (EPS). That means EPS growth is considered a real positive by most successful long-term investors. Who among us would not applaud KTB Investment & Securities's stratospheric annual EPS growth of 37%, compound, over the last three years? That sort of growth never lasts long, but like a shooting star it is well worth watching when it happens.

I like to see top-line growth as an indication that growth is sustainable, and I look for a high earnings before interest and taxation (EBIT) margin to point to a competitive moat (though some companies with low margins also have moats). I note that KTB Investment & Securities's revenue from operations was lower than its revenue in the last twelve months, so that could distort my analysis of its margins. KTB Investment & Securities maintained stable EBIT margins over the last year, all while growing revenue 38% to ₩488b. That's a real positive.

Since KTB Investment & Securities is no giant, with a market capitalization of ₩289b, so you should definitely check its cash and debt before getting too excited about its prospects.

Are KTB Investment & Securities Insiders Aligned With All Shareholders?

I like company leaders to have some skin in the game, so to speak, because it increases alignment of incentives between the people running the business, and its true owners. So it is good to see that KTB Investment & Securities insiders have a significant amount of capital invested in the stock. Indeed, they hold ₩54b worth of its stock. That's a lot of money, and no small incentive to work hard. Those holdings account for over 19% of the company; visible skin in the game.

Is KTB Investment & Securities Worth Keeping An Eye On?

KTB Investment & Securities's earnings have taken off like any random crypto-currency did, back in 2017. That sort of growth is nothing short of eye-catching, and the large investment held by insiders certainly brightens my view of the company. The hope is, of course, that the strong growth marks a fundamental improvement in the business economics. So yes, on this short analysis I do think it's worth considering KTB Investment & Securities for a spot on your watchlist. However, before you get too excited we've discovered 4 warning signs for KTB Investment & Securities (2 make us uncomfortable!) that you should be aware of.

Although KTB Investment & Securities certainly looks good to me, I would like it more if insiders were buying up shares. If you like to see insider buying, too, then this free list of growing companies that insiders are buying, could be exactly what you're looking for.
