Even With A 25% Surge, Cautious Investors Are Not Rewarding L&F Co., Ltd.'s (KRX:066970) Performance Completely
Those holding L&F Co., Ltd. (KRX:066970) shares would be relieved that the share price has rebounded 25% in the last thirty days, but it needs to keep going to repair the recent damage it has caused to investor portfolios. Not all shareholders will be feeling jubilant, since the share price is still down a very disappointing 43% in the last twelve months.
Even after such a large jump in price, it's still not a stretch to say that L&F's price-to-sales (or "P/S") ratio of 1.3x right now seems quite "middle-of-the-road" compared to the Electrical industry in Korea, where the median P/S ratio is around 1.4x. While this might not raise any eyebrows, if the P/S ratio is not justified investors could be missing out on a potential opportunity or ignoring looming disappointment.

How Has L&F Performed Recently?
L&F has been struggling lately as its revenue has declined faster than most other companies. Perhaps the market is expecting future revenue performance to begin matching the rest of the industry, which has kept the P/S from declining. If you still like the company, you'd want its revenue trajectory to turn around before making any decisions. Or at the very least, you'd be hoping it doesn't keep underperforming if your plan is to pick up some stock while it's not in favour.
Keen to find out how analysts think L&F's future stacks up against the industry? In that case, our free report is a great place to start.Do Revenue Forecasts Match The P/S Ratio?
There's an inherent assumption that a company should be matching the industry for P/S ratios like L&F's to be considered reasonable.
In reviewing the last year of financials, we were disheartened to see the company's revenues fell to the tune of 58%. Regardless, revenue has managed to lift by a handy 19% in aggregate from three years ago, thanks to the earlier period of growth. Accordingly, while they would have preferred to keep the run going, shareholders would be roughly satisfied with the medium-term rates of revenue growth.
Shifting to the future, estimates from the analysts covering the company suggest revenue should grow by 38% per year over the next three years. Meanwhile, the rest of the industry is forecast to only expand by 20% per annum, which is noticeably less attractive.
With this information, we find it interesting that L&F is trading at a fairly similar P/S compared to the industry. Apparently some shareholders are skeptical of the forecasts and have been accepting lower selling prices.
The Final Word
L&F appears to be back in favour with a solid price jump bringing its P/S back in line with other companies in the industry Using the price-to-sales ratio alone to determine if you should sell your stock isn't sensible, however it can be a practical guide to the company's future prospects.
Looking at L&F's analyst forecasts revealed that its superior revenue outlook isn't giving the boost to its P/S that we would've expected. When we see a strong revenue outlook, with growth outpacing the industry, we can only assume potential uncertainty around these figures are what might be placing slight pressure on the P/S ratio. This uncertainty seems to be reflected in the share price which, while stable, could be higher given the revenue forecasts.
