If You Like EPS Growth Then Check Out SPECO (KOSDAQ:013810) Before It's Too Late

Some have more dollars than sense, they say, so even companies that have no revenue, no profit, and a record of falling short, can easily find investors. But the reality is that when a company loses money each year, for long enough, its investors will usually take their share of those losses.

So if you're like me, you might be more interested in profitable, growing companies, like SPECO (KOSDAQ:013810). While that doesn't make the shares worth buying at any price, you can't deny that successful capitalism requires profit, eventually. While a well funded company may sustain losses for years, unless its owners have an endless appetite for subsidizing the customer, it will need to generate a profit eventually, or else breathe its last breath.

SPECO's Earnings Per Share Are Growing.

If a company can keep growing earnings per share (EPS) long enough, its share price will eventually follow. Therefore, there are plenty of investors who like to buy shares in companies that are growing EPS. I, for one, am blown away by the fact that SPECO has grown EPS by 49% per year, over the last three years. Growth that fast may well be fleeting, but like a lotus blooming from a murky pond, it sparks joy for the wary stock pickers.

I like to take a look at earnings before interest and (EBIT) tax margins, as well as revenue growth, to get another take on the quality of the company's growth. The good news is that SPECO is growing revenues, and EBIT margins improved by 6.3 percentage points to 15%, over the last year. Ticking those two boxes is a good sign of growth, in my book.

Since SPECO is no giant, with a market capitalization of ₩166b, so you should definitely check its cash and debt before getting too excited about its prospects.

Are SPECO Insiders Aligned With All Shareholders?

It makes me feel more secure owning shares in a company if insiders also own shares, thusly more closely aligning our interests. As a result, I'm encouraged by the fact that insiders own SPECO shares worth a considerable sum. With a whopping ₩56b worth of shares as a group, insiders have plenty riding on the company's success. At 34% of the company, the co-investment by insiders gives me confidence that management will make long-term focussed decisions.

Does SPECO Deserve A Spot On Your Watchlist?

SPECO's earnings per share have taken off like a rocket aimed right at the moon. That sort of growth is nothing short of eye-catching, and the large investment held by insiders certainly brightens my view of the company. At times fast EPS growth is a sign the business has reached an inflection point; and I do like those. So yes, on this short analysis I do think it's worth considering SPECO for a spot on your watchlist. What about risks? Every company has them, and we've spotted 4 warning signs for SPECO (of which 3 are significant!) you should know about.

Although SPECO certainly looks good to me, I would like it more if insiders were buying up shares. If you like to see insider buying, too, then this free list of growing companies that insiders are buying, could be exactly what you're looking for.
