Japan Transcity's (TSE:9310) Upcoming Dividend Will Be Larger Than Last Year's
The board of Japan Transcity Corporation (TSE:9310) has announced that it will be paying its dividend of ¥16.50 on the 4th of December, an increased payment from last year's comparable dividend. This takes the dividend yield to 4.0%, which shareholders will be pleased with.

Japan Transcity's Earnings Easily Cover The Distributions
A big dividend yield for a few years doesn't mean much if it can't be sustained. However, Japan Transcity's earnings easily cover the dividend. As a result, a large proportion of what it earned was being reinvested back into the business.
If the trend of the last few years continues, EPS will grow by 13.8% over the next 12 months. Assuming the dividend continues along recent trends, we think the payout ratio could be 28% by next year, which is in a pretty sustainable range.
Japan Transcity Has A Solid Track Record
The company has a sustained record of paying dividends with very little fluctuation. The dividend has gone from an annual total of ¥9.00 in 2014 to the most recent total annual payment of ¥33.50. This means that it has been growing its distributions at 14% per annum over that time. Rapidly growing dividends for a long time is a very valuable feature for an income stock.
The Dividend Looks Likely To Grow
Some investors will be chomping at the bit to buy some of the company's stock based on its dividend history. Japan Transcity has impressed us by growing EPS at 14% per year over the past five years. Japan Transcity definitely has the potential to grow its dividend in the future with earnings on an uptrend and a low payout ratio.
Japan Transcity Looks Like A Great Dividend Stock
Overall, we think this could be an attractive income stock, and it is only getting better by paying a higher dividend this year. Distributions are quite easily covered by earnings, which are also being converted to cash flows. All in all, this checks a lot of the boxes we look for when choosing an income stock.
Companies possessing a stable dividend policy will likely enjoy greater investor interest than those suffering from a more inconsistent approach.
