We Think That There Are More Issues For Recomm (TSE:3323) Than Just Sluggish Earnings
The subdued market reaction suggests that Recomm Co., Ltd.'s (TSE:3323) recent earnings didn't contain any surprises. Our analysis suggests that along with soft profit numbers, investors should be aware of some other underlying weaknesses in the numbers.
How Do Unusual Items Influence Profit?
Importantly, our data indicates that Recomm's profit received a boost of JP¥200m in unusual items, over the last year. While we like to see profit increases, we tend to be a little more cautious when unusual items have made a big contribution. When we analysed the vast majority of listed companies worldwide, we found that significant unusual items are often not repeated. And that's as you'd expect, given these boosts are described as 'unusual'. We can see that Recomm's positive unusual items were quite significant relative to its profit in the year to June 2025. As a result, we can surmise that the unusual items are making its statutory profit significantly stronger than it would otherwise be.

Our Take On Recomm's Profit Performance
As we discussed above, we think the significant positive unusual item makes Recomm's earnings a poor guide to its underlying profitability. For this reason, we think that Recomm's statutory profits may be a bad guide to its underlying earnings power, and might give investors an overly positive impression of the company. Sadly, its EPS was down over the last twelve months. At the end of the day, it's essential to consider more than just the factors above, if you want to understand the company properly. In light of this, if you'd like to do more analysis on the company, it's vital to be informed of the risks involved. Case in point: We've spotted 5 warning signs for Recomm you should be mindful of and 1 of these doesn't sit too well with us.
This note has only looked at a single factor that sheds light on the nature of Recomm's profit. But there are plenty of other ways to inform your opinion of a company.
