I-ne (TSE:4933) Has Announced That It Will Be Increasing Its Dividend To ¥15.00
I-ne CO., LTD. (TSE:4933) has announced that it will be increasing its dividend from last year's comparable payment on the 16th of March to ¥15.00. Despite this raise, the dividend yield of 1.0% is only a modest boost to shareholder returns.
I-ne's Future Dividend Projections Appear Well Covered By Earnings
The dividend yield is a little bit low, but sustainability of the payments is also an important part of evaluating an income stock. Before making this announcement, I-ne was easily earning enough to cover the dividend. This means that most of its earnings are being retained to grow the business.
Over the next year, EPS is forecast to expand by 9.0%. If the dividend continues on this path, the payout ratio could be 9.4% by next year, which we think can be pretty sustainable going forward.

I-ne Is Still Building Its Track Record
It's not possible for us to make a backward looking judgement just based on a short payment history. This doesn't mean that the company can't pay a good dividend, but just that we want to wait until it can prove itself.
The Dividend Looks Likely To Grow
The company's investors will be pleased to have been receiving dividend income for some time. It's encouraging to see that I-ne has been growing its earnings per share at 19% a year over the past five years. Growth in EPS bodes well for the dividend, as does the low payout ratio that the company is currently reporting.
We Really Like I-ne's Dividend
Overall, we think this could be an attractive income stock, and it is only getting better by paying a higher dividend this year. Distributions are quite easily covered by earnings, which are also being converted to cash flows. All of these factors considered, we think this has solid potential as a dividend stock.
It's important to note that companies having a consistent dividend policy will generate greater investor confidence than those having an erratic one. However, there are other things to consider for investors when analysing stock performance. For instance, we've picked out 1 warning sign for I-ne that investors should take into consideration.
