Fujibo Holdings (TSE:3104) Will Pay A Larger Dividend Than Last Year At ¥75.00

The board of Fujibo Holdings, Inc. (TSE:3104) has announced that it will be paying its dividend of ¥75.00 on the 8th of December, an increased payment from last year's comparable dividend. The payment will take the dividend yield to 2.3%, which is in line with the average for the industry.

Fujibo Holdings' Payment Could Potentially Have Solid Earnings Coverage

We like a dividend to be consistent over the long term, so checking whether it is sustainable is important. However, prior to this announcement, Fujibo Holdings was quite comfortably covering its dividend with earnings and it was paying more than 75% of its free cash flow to shareholders. The business is earning enough to make the dividend feasible, but the cash payout ratio of 89% shows that most of the cash is going back to the shareholders, which could constrain growth prospects going forward.

Looking forward, earnings per share is forecast to rise by 11.4% over the next year. If the dividend continues on this path, the payout ratio could be 32% by next year, which we think can be pretty sustainable going forward.

Fujibo Holdings Has A Solid Track Record

The company has an extended history of paying stable dividends. The annual payment during the last 10 years was ¥60.00 in 2015, and the most recent fiscal year payment was ¥150.00. This implies that the company grew its distributions at a yearly rate of about 9.6% over that duration. Companies like this can be very valuable over the long term, if the decent rate of growth can be maintained.

The Dividend Looks Likely To Grow

Investors could be attracted to the stock based on the quality of its payment history. It's encouraging to see that Fujibo Holdings has been growing its earnings per share at 12% a year over the past five years. With a decent amount of growth and a low payout ratio, we think this bodes well for Fujibo Holdings' prospects of growing its dividend payments in the future.

In Summary

Overall, this is a reasonable dividend, and it being raised is an added bonus. On the plus side, the dividend looks sustainable by most measures but it is let down by the lack of cash flows. The payment isn't stellar, but it could make a decent addition to a dividend portfolio.

Market movements attest to how highly valued a consistent dividend policy is compared to one which is more unpredictable.
