The Market Doesn't Like What It Sees From Finanza.tech S.p.A.'s (BIT:FTC) Revenues Yet
You may think that with a price-to-sales (or "P/S") ratio of 0.7x Finanza.tech S.p.A. (BIT:FTC) is a stock worth checking out, seeing as almost half of all the Capital Markets companies in Italy have P/S ratios greater than 2x and even P/S higher than 7x aren't out of the ordinary. Although, it's not wise to just take the P/S at face value as there may be an explanation why it's limited.

What Does Finanza.tech's Recent Performance Look Like?
While the industry has experienced revenue growth lately, Finanza.tech's revenue has gone into reverse gear, which is not great. The P/S ratio is probably low because investors think this poor revenue performance isn't going to get any better. If you still like the company, you'd be hoping this isn't the case so that you could potentially pick up some stock while it's out of favour.

Finanza.tech's P/S ratio would be typical for a company that's only expected to deliver limited growth, and importantly, perform worse than the industry.
In reviewing the last year of financials, we were disheartened to see the company's revenues fell to the tune of 2.2%. Still, the latest three year period has seen an excellent 240% overall rise in revenue, in spite of its unsatisfying short-term performance. Accordingly, while they would have preferred to keep the run going, shareholders would definitely welcome the medium-term rates of revenue growth.
Turning to the outlook, the next year should bring diminished returns, with revenue decreasing 12% as estimated by the lone analyst watching the company. With the industry predicted to deliver 200,665% growth, that's a disappointing outcome.
In light of this, it's understandable that Finanza.tech's P/S would sit below the majority of other companies. However, shrinking revenues are unlikely to lead to a stable P/S over the longer term. Even just maintaining these prices could be difficult to achieve as the weak outlook is weighing down the shares.
What We Can Learn From Finanza.tech's P/S?
While the price-to-sales ratio shouldn't be the defining factor in whether you buy a stock or not, it's quite a capable barometer of revenue expectations.
With revenue forecasts that are inferior to the rest of the industry, it's no surprise that Finanza.tech's P/S is on the lower end of the spectrum. Right now shareholders are accepting the low P/S as they concede future revenue probably won't provide any pleasant surprises. Unless there's material change, it's hard to envision a situation where the stock price will rise drastically.
