Beghelli S.p.A.'s (BIT:BE) insiders who sold earlier this year may be offered solace in this recent price drop
Beghelli S.p.A.'s (BIT:BE) value has fallen 13% in the last week, but insiders who sold €546k worth of stock over the last year have had less success. Insiders might have been better off holding onto their shares, given that the average selling price of €0.35 is still below the current share price.
While we would never suggest that investors should base their decisions solely on what the directors of a company have been doing, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Beghelli
Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider sale was by the Chairman of the Board of Directors & CEO, Gian Beghelli, for €546k worth of shares, at about €0.35 per share. That means that even when the share price was below the current price of €0.36, an insider wanted to cash in some shares. When an insider sells below the current price, it suggests that they considered that lower price to be fair. That makes us wonder what they think of the (higher) recent valuation. Please do note, however, that sellers may have a variety of reasons for selling, so we don't know for sure what they think of the stock price. We note that the biggest single sale was only 1.4% of Gian Beghelli's holding. The only individual insider seller over the last year was Gian Beghelli.

Insider Ownership
Another way to test the alignment between the leaders of a company and other shareholders is to look at how many shares they own. We usually like to see fairly high levels of insider ownership. Beghelli insiders own about €41m worth of shares (which is 58% of the company). I like to see this level of insider ownership, because it increases the chances that management are thinking about the best interests of shareholders.
What Might The Insider Transactions At Beghelli Tell Us?
There haven't been any insider transactions in the last three months -- that doesn't mean much. It's heartening that insiders own plenty of stock, but we'd like to see more insider buying, since the last year of Beghelli insider transactions don't fill us with confidence. While we like knowing what's going on with the insider's ownership and transactions, we make sure to also consider what risks are facing a stock before making any investment decision. When we did our research, we found 3 warning signs for Beghelli (1 shouldn't be ignored!) that we believe deserve your full attention.
