OnMobile Global's (NSE:ONMOBILE) earnings trajectory could turn positive as the stock rallies 10% this past week
This week we saw the OnMobile Global Limited (NSE:ONMOBILE) share price climb by 10%. But that cannot eclipse the less-than-impressive returns over the last three years. After all, the share price is down 36% in the last three years, significantly under-performing the market.
The recent uptick of 10% could be a positive sign of things to come, so let's take a look at historical fundamentals.
There is no denying that markets are sometimes efficient, but prices do not always reflect underlying business performance. One flawed but reasonable way to assess how sentiment around a company has changed is to compare the earnings per share (EPS) with the share price.
During five years of share price growth, OnMobile Global moved from a loss to profitability. That would generally be considered a positive, so we are surprised to see the share price is down. So given the share price is down it's worth checking some other metrics too.
The company has kept revenue pretty healthy over the last three years, so we doubt that explains the falling share price. We're not entirely sure why the share price is dropped, but it does seem likely investors have become less optimistic about the business.

A Different Perspective
Investors in OnMobile Global had a tough year, with a total loss of 19%, against a market gain of about 0.06%. However, keep in mind that even the best stocks will sometimes underperform the market over a twelve month period. On the bright side, long term shareholders have made money, with a gain of 3% per year over half a decade. If the fundamental data continues to indicate long term sustainable growth, the current sell-off could be an opportunity worth considering. I find it very interesting to look at share price over the long term as a proxy for business performance. But to truly gain insight, we need to consider other information, too.
