Here's Why We Think Tribhovandas Bhimji Zaveri (NSE:TBZ) Is Well Worth Watching
Like a puppy chasing its tail, some new investors often chase 'the next big thing', even if that means buying 'story stocks' without revenue, let alone profit. But as Warren Buffett has mused, 'If you've been playing poker for half an hour and you still don't know who the patsy is, you're the patsy.' When they buy such story stocks, investors are all too often the patsy.
So if you're like me, you might be more interested in profitable, growing companies, like Tribhovandas Bhimji Zaveri (NSE:TBZ). Now, I'm not saying that the stock is necessarily undervalued today; but I can't shake an appreciation for the profitability of the business itself. While a well funded company may sustain losses for years, unless its owners have an endless appetite for subsidizing the customer, it will need to generate a profit eventually, or else breathe its last breath.

Tribhovandas Bhimji Zaveri's Earnings Per Share Are Growing.
As one of my mentors once told me, share price follows earnings per share (EPS). Therefore, there are plenty of investors who like to buy shares in companies that are growing EPS. As a tree reaches steadily for the sky, Tribhovandas Bhimji Zaveri's EPS has grown 27% each year, compound, over three years. If the company can sustain that sort of growth, we'd expect shareholders to come away winners.
Careful consideration of revenue growth and earnings before interest and taxation (EBIT) margins can help inform a view on the sustainability of the recent profit growth. Unfortunately, Tribhovandas Bhimji Zaveri's revenue dropped 26% last year, but the silver lining is that EBIT margins improved from 4.5% to 7.1%. That's not ideal.

Tribhovandas Bhimji Zaveri isn't a huge company, given its market capitalization of ₹5.0b. That makes it extra important to check on its balance sheet strength.
Are Tribhovandas Bhimji Zaveri Insiders Aligned With All Shareholders?
Many consider high insider ownership to be a strong sign of alignment between the leaders of a company and the ordinary shareholders. So as you can imagine, the fact that Tribhovandas Bhimji Zaveri insiders own a significant number of shares certainly appeals to me. Indeed, with a collective holding of 71%, company insiders are in control and have plenty of capital behind the venture. To me this is a good sign because it suggests they will be incentivised to build value for shareholders over the long term. In terms of absolute value, insiders have ₹3.6b invested in the business, using the current share price. That's nothing to sneeze at!
Should You Add Tribhovandas Bhimji Zaveri To Your Watchlist?
You can't deny that Tribhovandas Bhimji Zaveri has grown its earnings per share at a very impressive rate. That's attractive. I think that EPS growth is something to boast of, and it doesn't surprise me that insiders are holding on to a considerable chunk of shares. So this is very likely the kind of business that I like to spend time researching, with a view to discerning its true value. What about risks? Every company has them, and we've spotted 3 warning signs for Tribhovandas Bhimji Zaveri (of which 1 shouldn't be ignored!) you should know about.
Of course, you can do well (sometimes) buying stocks that are not growing earnings and do not have insiders buying shares. But as a growth investor I always like to check out companies that do have those features. You can access a free list of them here.
