Stock Analysis
Generally, when a single insider buys stock, it is usually not a big deal. However, when several insiders are buying, like in the case of REDTAPE Limited (NSE:REDTAPE), it sends a favourable message to the company's shareholders.
While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At REDTAPE
Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider purchase was by Whole Time Director & Executive Chairman Rashid Mirza for ₹25m worth of shares, at about ₹767 per share. So it's clear an insider wanted to buy, at around the current price, which is ₹840. While their view may have changed since the purchase was made, this does at least suggest they have had confidence in the company's future. We do always like to see insider buying, but it is worth noting if those purchases were made at well below today's share price, as the discount to value may have narrowed with the rising price. The good news for REDTAPE share holders is that insiders were buying at near the current price.
In the last twelve months REDTAPE insiders were buying shares, but not selling. You can see a visual depiction of insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last 12 months, below. Does REDTAPE Boast High Insider Ownership?
For a common shareholder, it is worth checking how many shares are held by company insiders. Usually, the higher the insider ownership, the more likely it is that insiders will be incentivised to build the company for the long term. REDTAPE insiders own about ₹86b worth of shares (which is 74% of the company). Most shareholders would be happy to see this sort of insider ownership, since it suggests that management incentives are well aligned with other shareholders.
So What Does This Data Suggest About REDTAPE Insiders?
