Have Insiders Been Buying Brand Concepts Limited (NSE:BCONCEPTS) Shares?
It is not uncommon to see companies perform well in the years after insiders buy shares. The flip side of that is that there are more than a few examples of insiders dumping stock prior to a period of weak performance. So before you buy or sell Brand Concepts Limited (NSE:BCONCEPTS), you may well want to know whether insiders have been buying or selling.
What Is Insider Buying?
It is perfectly legal for company insiders, including board members, to buy and sell stock in a company. However, most countries require that the company discloses such transactions to the market.
We don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions. But logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares. For example, a Harvard University study found that 'insider purchases earn abnormal returns of more than 6% per year'.

Brand Concepts Insider Transactions Over The Last Year
Notably, that recent purchase by Abhinav Kumar is the biggest insider purchase of Brand Concepts shares that we've seen in the last year. So it's clear an insider wanted to buy, at around the current price, which is ₹24.60. Of course they may have changed their mind. But this suggests they are optimistic. If someone buys shares at well below current prices, it's a good sign on balance, but keep in mind they may no longer see value. Happily, the Brand Concepts insider decided to buy shares at close to current prices. Abhinav Kumar was the only individual insider to buy shares in the last twelve months.

Insider Ownership of Brand Concepts
Looking at the total insider shareholdings in a company can help to inform your view of whether they are well aligned with common shareholders. Usually, the higher the insider ownership, the more likely it is that insiders will be incentivised to build the company for the long term. Brand Concepts insiders own about ₹194m worth of shares (which is 75% of the company). I like to see this level of insider ownership, because it increases the chances that management are thinking about the best interests of shareholders.
What Might The Insider Transactions At Brand Concepts Tell Us?
It is good to see the recent insider purchase. And an analysis of the transactions over the last year also gives us confidence. But on the other hand, the company made a loss during the last year, which makes us a little cautious. When combined with notable insider ownership, these factors suggest Brand Concepts insiders are well aligned, and quite possibly think the share price is too low. That's what I like to see! So these insider transactions can help us build a thesis about the stock, but it's also worthwhile knowing the risks facing this company. For instance, we've identified 4 warning signs for Brand Concepts (2 shouldn't be ignored) you should be aware of.
