Whilst it may not be a huge deal, we thought it was good to see that the Brand Concepts Limited (NSE:BCONCEPTS) CFO & Whole-Time Director, Abhinav Kumar, recently bought ₹1.4m worth of stock, for ₹22.35 per share. However, it only increased their shares held by 9.0%, and it wasn't a huge purchase by absolute value, either.

Brand Concepts Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

Notably, that recent purchase by Abhinav Kumar is the biggest insider purchase of Brand Concepts shares that we've seen in the last year. So it's clear an insider wanted to buy, at around the current price, which is ₹24.60. Of course they may have changed their mind. But this suggests they are optimistic. While we always like to see insider buying, it's less meaningful if the purchases were made at much lower prices, as the opportunity they saw may have passed. Happily, the Brand Concepts insider decided to buy shares at close to current prices. Abhinav Kumar was the only individual insider to buy shares in the last twelve months.

Insider Ownership

For a common shareholder, it is worth checking how many shares are held by company insiders. Usually, the higher the insider ownership, the more likely it is that insiders will be incentivised to build the company for the long term. It's great to see that Brand Concepts insiders own 75% of the company, worth about ₹194m. I like to see this level of insider ownership, because it increases the chances that management are thinking about the best interests of shareholders.

So What Does This Data Suggest About Brand Concepts Insiders?

It's certainly positive to see the recent insider purchase. We also take confidence from the longer term picture of insider transactions. However, we note that the company didn't make a profit over the last twelve months, which makes us cautious. Once you factor in the high insider ownership, it certainly seems like insiders are positive about Brand Concepts. One for the watchlist, at least! In addition to knowing about insider transactions going on, it's beneficial to identify the risks facing Brand Concepts.
