Should You Be Adding Sandesh (NSE:SANDESH) To Your Watchlist Today?

Some have more dollars than sense, they say, so even companies that have no revenue, no profit, and a record of falling short, can easily find investors. Unfortunately, high risk investments often have little probability of ever paying off, and many investors pay a price to learn their lesson.

In contrast to all that, I prefer to spend time on companies like Sandesh (NSE:SANDESH), which has not only revenues, but also profits. While that doesn't make the shares worth buying at any price, you can't deny that successful capitalism requires profit, eventually. Loss-making companies are always racing against time to reach financial sustainability, but time is often a friend of the profitable company, especially if it is growing.

Sandesh's Earnings Per Share Are Growing.

If a company can keep growing earnings per share (EPS) long enough, its share price will eventually follow. That makes EPS growth an attractive quality for any company. Over the last three years, Sandesh has grown EPS by 7.2% per year. That might not be particularly high growth, but it does show that per-share earnings are moving steadily in the right direction.

I like to take a look at earnings before interest and (EBIT) tax margins, as well as revenue growth, to get another take on the quality of the company's growth. I note that Sandesh's revenue from operations was lower than its revenue in the last twelve months, so that could distort my analysis of its margins. Sandesh's EBIT margins have actually improved by 11.8 percentage points in the last year, to reach 35%, but, on the flip side, revenue was down 21%. That falls short of ideal.

Sandesh isn't a huge company, given its market capitalization of ₹6.2b. That makes it extra important to check on its balance sheet strength.

Are Sandesh Insiders Aligned With All Shareholders?

I like company leaders to have some skin in the game, so to speak, because it increases alignment of incentives between the people running the business, and its true owners. As a result, I'm encouraged by the fact that insiders own Sandesh shares worth a considerable sum. To be specific, they have ₹1.7b worth of shares. That shows significant buy-in, and may indicate conviction in the business strategy. That amounts to 26% of the company, demonstrating a degree of high-level alignment with shareholders.

Is Sandesh Worth Keeping An Eye On?

One important encouraging feature of Sandesh is that it is growing profits. Just as polish makes silverware pop, the high level of insider ownership enhances my enthusiasm for this growth. The combination sparks joy for me, so I'd consider keeping the company on a watchlist. Don't forget that there may still be risks. For instance, we've identified 2 warning signs for Sandesh (1 shouldn't be ignored) you should be aware of.
