We wouldn't blame Page Industries Limited (NSE:PAGEIND) shareholders if they were a little worried about the fact that Ramesh Genomal, the Non-Executive Director recently netted about ₹138m selling shares at an average price of ₹44,765. However, that sale only accounted for 0.2% of their holding, so arguably it doesn't say much about their conviction.

Page Industries Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

Notably, that recent sale by Non-Executive Director Ramesh Genomal was not the only time they sold Page Industries shares this year. They previously made an even bigger sale of -₹650m worth of shares at a price of ₹42,915 per share. So it's clear an insider wanted to take some cash off the table, even below the current price of ₹44,765. As a general rule we consider it to be discouraging when insiders are selling below the current price, because it suggests they were happy with a lower valuation. Please do note, however, that sellers may have a variety of reasons for selling, so we don't know for sure what they think of the stock price. We note that the biggest single sale was only 0.9% of Ramesh Genomal's holding.

Does Page Industries Boast High Insider Ownership?

Many investors like to check how much of a company is owned by insiders. Usually, the higher the insider ownership, the more likely it is that insiders will be incentivised to build the company for the long term. Page Industries insiders own 44% of the company, currently worth about ₹220b based on the recent share price. This kind of significant ownership by insiders does generally increase the chance that the company is run in the interest of all shareholders.
