Idomoo Ltd.'s (TLV:IDMO) Price Is Right But Growth Is Lacking After Shares Rocket 44%

The Idomoo Ltd. (TLV:IDMO) share price has done very well over the last month, posting an excellent gain of 44%. Still, the 30-day jump doesn't change the fact that longer term shareholders have seen their stock decimated by the 66% share price drop in the last twelve months.

Although its price has surged higher, Idomoo's price-to-sales (or "P/S") ratio of 0.7x might still make it look like a buy right now compared to the Software industry in Israel, where around half of the companies have P/S ratios above 1.3x and even P/S above 4x are quite common. However, the P/S might be low for a reason and it requires further investigation to determine if it's justified.

How Has Idomoo Performed Recently?

Recent times have been quite advantageous for Idomoo as its revenue has been rising very briskly. It might be that many expect the strong revenue performance to degrade substantially, which has repressed the P/S ratio. If that doesn't eventuate, then existing shareholders have reason to be quite optimistic about the future direction of the share price.

Is There Any Revenue Growth Forecasted For Idomoo?

Idomoo's P/S ratio would be typical for a company that's only expected to deliver limited growth, and importantly, perform worse than the industry.

Retrospectively, the last year delivered an exceptional 38% gain to the company's top line. The strong recent performance means it was also able to grow revenue by 69% in total over the last three years. Therefore, it's fair to say the revenue growth recently has been superb for the company.

Comparing the recent medium-term revenue trends against the industry's one-year growth forecast of 29% shows it's noticeably less attractive.

In light of this, it's understandable that Idomoo's P/S sits below the majority of other companies. It seems most investors are expecting to see the recent limited growth rates continue into the future and are only willing to pay a reduced amount for the stock.

The Final Word

The latest share price surge wasn't enough to lift Idomoo's P/S close to the industry median. While the price-to-sales ratio shouldn't be the defining factor in whether you buy a stock or not, it's quite a capable barometer of revenue expectations.

Our examination of Idomoo confirms that the company's revenue trends over the past three-year years are a key factor in its low price-to-sales ratio, as we suspected, given they fall short of current industry expectations. Right now shareholders are accepting the low P/S as they concede future revenue probably won't provide any pleasant surprises. Unless the recent medium-term conditions improve, they will continue to form a barrier for the share price around these levels.
