I Built A List Of Growing Companies And Computer Direct Group (TLV:CMDR) Made The Cut

Like a puppy chasing its tail, some new investors often chase 'the next big thing', even if that means buying 'story stocks' without revenue, let alone profit. And in their study titled Who Falls Prey to the Wolf of Wall Street?' Leuz et. al. found that it is 'quite common' for investors to lose money by buying into 'pump and dump' schemes.

If, on the other hand, you like companies that have revenue, and even earn profits, then you may well be interested in Computer Direct Group (TLV:CMDR). Even if the shares are fully valued today, most capitalists would recognize its profits as the demonstration of steady value generation. Conversely, a loss-making company is yet to prove itself with profit, and eventually the sweet milk of external capital may run sour.

How Fast Is Computer Direct Group Growing Its Earnings Per Share?

Even with very modest growth rates, a company will usually do well if it improves earnings per share (EPS) year after year. So it's no surprise that some investors are more inclined to invest in profitable businesses. Computer Direct Group has grown its trailing twelve month EPS from ₪11.51 to ₪12.26, in the last year. That amounts to a small improvement of 6.5%.

One way to double-check a company's growth is to look at how its revenue, and earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) margins are changing. Computer Direct Group maintained stable EBIT margins over the last year, all while growing revenue 17% to ₪1.9b. That's progress.

Since Computer Direct Group is no giant, with a market capitalization of ₪791m, so you should definitely check its cash and debt before getting too excited about its prospects.

Are Computer Direct Group Insiders Aligned With All Shareholders?

Many consider high insider ownership to be a strong sign of alignment between the leaders of a company and the ordinary shareholders. So we're pleased to report that Computer Direct Group insiders own a meaningful share of the business. Indeed, with a collective holding of 77%, company insiders are in control and have plenty of capital behind the venture. To me this is a good sign because it suggests they will be incentivised to build value for shareholders over the long term. In terms of absolute value, insiders have ₪608m invested in the business, using the current share price. That should be more than enough to keep them focussed on creating shareholder value!

Should You Add Computer Direct Group To Your Watchlist?

One important encouraging feature of Computer Direct Group is that it is growing profits. Just as polish makes silverware pop, the high level of insider ownership enhances my enthusiasm for this growth. The combination sparks joy for me, so I'd consider keeping the company on a watchlist. It's still necessary to consider the ever-present spectre of investment risk. We've identified 3 warning signs with Computer Direct Group (at least 1 which is potentially serious) , and understanding them should be part of your investment process.

Of course, you can do well (sometimes) buying stocks that are not growing earnings and do not have insiders buying shares. But as a growth investor I always like to check out companies that do have those features. You can access a free list of them here.
