Even though China Environmental Technology Holdings Limited (HKG:646) has fallen by 18% over the past week , insiders who sold HK$5.1m worth of stock over the past year have had less luck. Given that the average selling price of HK$0.81 is still lower than the current share price, insiders would probably have been better off keeping their shares.

While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At China Environmental Technology Holdings

In the last twelve months, the biggest single sale by an insider was when the insider, Takayuki Hoshino, sold HK$2.5m worth of shares at a price of HK$0.81 per share. While we don't usually like to see insider selling, it's more concerning if the sales take place at a lower price. It's of some comfort that this sale was conducted at a price well above the current share price, which is HK$0.37. So it may not shed much light on insider confidence at current levels. Takayuki Hoshino was the only individual insider to sell over the last year.
