Should You Be Adding Agile Group Holdings (HKG:3383) To Your Watchlist Today?
For beginners, it can seem like a good idea (and an exciting prospect) to buy a company that tells a good story to investors, even if it completely lacks a track record of revenue and profit. But the reality is that when a company loses money each year, for long enough, its investors will usually take their share of those losses.
In the age of tech-stock blue-sky investing, my choice may seem old fashioned; I still prefer profitable companies like Agile Group Holdings (HKG:3383). Even if the shares are fully valued today, most capitalists would recognize its profits as the demonstration of steady value generation. While a well funded company may sustain losses for years, unless its owners have an endless appetite for subsidizing the customer, it will need to generate a profit eventually, or else breathe its last breath.

Agile Group Holdings's Earnings Per Share Are Growing.
The market is a voting machine in the short term, but a weighing machine in the long term, so share price follows earnings per share (EPS) eventually. That makes EPS growth an attractive quality for any company. Over the last three years, Agile Group Holdings has grown EPS by 16% per year. That growth rate is fairly good, assuming the company can keep it up.
I like to see top-line growth as an indication that growth is sustainable, and I look for a high earnings before interest and taxation (EBIT) margin to point to a competitive moat (though some companies with low margins also have moats). While we note Agile Group Holdings's EBIT margins were flat over the last year, revenue grew by a solid 33% to CN¥80b. That's progress.

Are Agile Group Holdings Insiders Aligned With All Shareholders?
We would not expect to see insiders owning a large percentage of a HK$50b company like Agile Group Holdings. But we are reassured by the fact they have invested in the company. Notably, they have an enormous stake in the company, worth CN¥6.0b. This suggests to me that leadership will be very mindful of shareholders' interests when making decisions!
Does Agile Group Holdings Deserve A Spot On Your Watchlist?
One positive for Agile Group Holdings is that it is growing EPS. That's nice to see. If that's not enough on its own, there is also the rather notable levels of insider ownership. The combination sparks joy for me, so I'd consider keeping the company on a watchlist. However, before you get too excited we've discovered 2 warning signs for Agile Group Holdings (1 is concerning!) that you should be aware of.
Although Agile Group Holdings certainly looks good to me, I would like it more if insiders were buying up shares. If you like to see insider buying, too, then this free list of growing companies that insiders are buying, could be exactly what you're looking for.
