Is Redco Properties Group (HKG:1622) Using Too Much Debt?

Debt assists a business until the business has trouble paying it off, either with new capital or with free cash flow. A Look At Redco Properties Group's Liabilities

We can see from the most recent balance sheet that Redco Properties Group had liabilities of CN¥50.2b falling due within a year, and liabilities of CN¥9.72b due beyond that. On the other hand, it had cash of CN¥10.1b and CN¥7.93b worth of receivables due within a year. So its liabilities total CN¥42.0b more than the combination of its cash and short-term receivables.

The deficiency here weighs heavily on the CN¥10.0b company itself, as if a child were struggling under the weight of an enormous back-pack full of books, his sports gear, and a trumpet. If everything goes well that may pay off but the downside of this debt is a greater risk of permanent losses. There's no doubt that we learn most about debt from the balance sheet. But ultimately, every company can contain risks that exist outside of the balance sheet.
