Things Look Grim For Yeahka Limited (HKG:9923) After Today's Downgrade

Published
SEHK:9923

Market forces rained on the parade of Yeahka Limited (HKG:9923) shareholders today, when the analysts downgraded their forecasts for this year. Both revenue and earnings per share (EPS) estimates were cut sharply as analysts factored in the latest outlook for the business, concluding that they were too optimistic previously.

After this downgrade, Yeahka's eleven analysts are now forecasting revenues of CN¥4.3b in 2024. This would be a substantial 24% improvement in sales compared to the last 12 months. Statutory earnings per share are presumed to leap 2,398% to CN¥0.59. Before this latest update, the analysts had been forecasting revenues of CN¥4.8b and earnings per share (EPS) of CN¥0.78 in 2024. It looks like analyst sentiment has declined substantially, with a substantial drop in revenue estimates and a large cut to earnings per share numbers as well.

It'll come as no surprise then, to learn that the analysts have cut their price target 6.4% to CN¥13.54. There's another way to think about price targets though, and that's to look at the range of price targets put forward by analysts, because a wide range of estimates could suggest a diverse view on possible outcomes for the business. Currently, the most bullish analyst values Yeahka at CN¥18.28 per share, while the most bearish prices it at CN¥11.15. These price targets show that analysts do have some differing views on the business, but the estimates do not vary enough to suggest to us that some are betting on wild success or utter failure.

Another way we can view these estimates is in the context of the bigger picture, such as how the forecasts stack up against past performance, and whether forecasts are more or less bullish relative to other companies in the industry. The analysts are definitely expecting Yeahka's growth to accelerate, with the forecast 24% annualised growth to the end of 2024 ranking favourably alongside historical growth of 15% per annum over the past five years. By contrast, our data suggests that other companies (with analyst coverage) in a similar industry are forecast to grow their revenue at 12% per year. Factoring in the forecast acceleration in revenue, it's pretty clear that Yeahka is expected to grow much faster than its industry.

The Bottom Line

The most important thing to take away is that analysts cut their earnings per share estimates, expecting a clear decline in business conditions. Unfortunately, analysts also downgraded their revenue estimates, although our data indicates revenues are expected to perform better than the wider market. After such a stark change in sentiment from analysts, we'd understand if readers now felt a bit wary of Yeahka.

Even so, the longer term trajectory of the business is much more important for the value creation of shareholders. At Simply Wall St, we have a full range of analyst estimates for Yeahka going out to 2026, and you can see them free on our platform here.
