Like a puppy chasing its tail, some new investors often chase 'the next big thing', even if that means buying 'story stocks' without revenue, let alone profit. Unfortunately, high risk investments often have little probability of ever paying off, and many investors pay a price to learn their lesson.

If, on the other hand, you like companies that have revenue, and even earn profits, then you may well be interested in Q Technology (Group) (HKG:1478). Even if the shares are fully valued today, most capitalists would recognize its profits as the demonstration of steady value generation. While a well funded company may sustain losses for years, unless its owners have an endless appetite for subsidizing the customer, it will need to generate a profit eventually, or else breathe its last breath.

How Fast Is Q Technology (Group) Growing Its Earnings Per Share?

Over the last three years, Q Technology (Group) has grown earnings per share (EPS) like young bamboo after rain; fast, and from a low base. So I don't think the percent growth rate is particularly meaningful. Thus, it makes sense to focus on more recent growth rates, instead. Like a falcon taking flight, Q Technology (Group)'s EPS soared from CN¥0.60 to CN¥0.92, over the last year. That's a impressive gain of 51%.

I like to take a look at earnings before interest and (EBIT) tax margins, as well as revenue growth, to get another take on the quality of the company's growth. Q Technology (Group) shareholders can take confidence from the fact that EBIT margins are up from 5.1% to 7.8%, and revenue is growing. Ticking those two boxes is a good sign of growth, in my book.

Are Q Technology (Group) Insiders Aligned With All Shareholders?

Personally, I like to see high insider ownership of a company, since it suggests that it will be managed in the interests of shareholders. So as you can imagine, the fact that Q Technology (Group) insiders own a significant number of shares certainly appeals to me. Indeed, with a collective holding of 64%, company insiders are in control and have plenty of capital behind the venture. This makes me think they will be incentivised to plan for the long term - something I like to see. At the current share price, that insider holding is worth a whopping CN¥9.0b. That means they have plenty of their own capital riding on the performance of the business!

It's good to see that insiders are invested in the company, but are remuneration levels reasonable? Well, based on the CEO pay, I'd say they are indeed. I discovered that the median total compensation for the CEOs of companies like Q Technology (Group) with market caps between CN¥6.5b and CN¥21b is about CN¥4.1m.

The CEO of Q Technology (Group) only received CN¥1.8m in total compensation for the year ending . That's clearly well below average, so at a glance, that arrangement seems generous to shareholders, and points to a modest remuneration culture. CEO remuneration levels are not the most important metric for investors, but when the pay is modest, that does support enhanced alignment between the CEO and the ordinary shareholders. It can also be a sign of a culture of integrity, in a broader sense.

Should You Add Q Technology (Group) To Your Watchlist?

Given my belief that share price follows earnings per share you can easily imagine how I feel about Q Technology (Group)'s strong EPS growth. If that's not enough, consider also that the CEO pay is quite reasonable, and insiders are well-invested alongside other shareholders. This may only be a fast rundown, but the takeaway for me is that Q Technology (Group) is worth keeping an eye on. We don't want to rain on the parade too much, but we did also find 1 warning sign for Q Technology (Group) that you need to be mindful of.

Although Q Technology (Group) certainly looks good to me, I would like it more if insiders were buying up shares. If you like to see insider buying, too, then this free list of growing companies that insiders are buying, could be exactly what you're looking for.
