Interparfums (EPA:ITP) Is Looking To Continue Growing Its Returns On Capital
Did you know there are some financial metrics that can provide clues of a potential multi-bagger? Typically, we'll want to notice a trend of growing return on capital employed (ROCE) and alongside that, an expanding base of capital employed. Basically this means that a company has profitable initiatives that it can continue to reinvest in, which is a trait of a compounding machine. Speaking of which, we noticed some great changes in Interparfums' (EPA:ITP) returns on capital, so let's have a look.
Return On Capital Employed (ROCE): What Is It?
For those who don't know, ROCE is a measure of a company's yearly pre-tax profit (its return), relative to the capital employed in the business. To calculate this metric for Interparfums, this is the formula:
Return on Capital Employed = Earnings Before Interest and Tax (EBIT) ÷ (Total Assets - Current Liabilities)
0.16 = €107m ÷ (€816m - €157m) (Based on the trailing twelve months to June 2022).
Thus, Interparfums has an ROCE of 16%. On its own, that's a standard return, however it's much better than the 12% generated by the Personal Products industry.

In the above chart we have measured Interparfums' prior ROCE against its prior performance, but the future is arguably more important. If you're interested, you can view the analysts predictions in our free report on analyst forecasts for the company.
So How Is Interparfums' ROCE Trending?
Interparfums is displaying some positive trends. Over the last five years, returns on capital employed have risen substantially to 16%. The company is effectively making more money per dollar of capital used, and it's worth noting that the amount of capital has increased too, by 44%. So we're very much inspired by what we're seeing at Interparfums thanks to its ability to profitably reinvest capital.
The Bottom Line
All in all, it's terrific to see that Interparfums is reaping the rewards from prior investments and is growing its capital base. And a remarkable 175% total return over the last five years tells us that investors are expecting more good things to come in the future. In light of that, we think it's worth looking further into this stock because if Interparfums can keep these trends up, it could have a bright future ahead.
