Have Insiders Been Buying Tarku Resources Ltd. (CVE:TKU) Shares This Year?
We've lost count of how many times insiders have accumulated shares in a company that goes on to improve markedly. The flip side of that is that there are more than a few examples of insiders dumping stock prior to a period of weak performance. So before you buy or sell Tarku Resources Ltd. (CVE:TKU), you may well want to know whether insiders have been buying or selling.
What Is Insider Selling?
It is perfectly legal for company insiders, including board members, to buy and sell stock in a company. However, rules govern insider transactions, and certain disclosures are required.
Insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing. But logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares. As Peter Lynch said, 'insiders might sell their shares for any number of reasons, but they buy them for only one: they think the price will rise'.

Tarku Resources Insider Transactions Over The Last Year
In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when insider Eric Sprott bought CA$1.1m worth of shares at a price of CA$0.10 per share. We do like to see buying, but this purchase was made at well below the current price of CA$0.17. Because the shares were purchased at a lower price, this particular buy doesn't tell us much about how insiders feel about the current share price.
Tarku Resources insiders may have bought shares in the last year, but they didn't sell any. Insider Ownership
Another way to test the alignment between the leaders of a company and other shareholders is to look at how many shares they own. Usually, the higher the insider ownership, the more likely it is that insiders will be incentivised to build the company for the long term. Tarku Resources insiders own 53% of the company, currently worth about CA$4.2m based on the recent share price. This kind of significant ownership by insiders does generally increase the chance that the company is run in the interest of all shareholders.
So What Do The Tarku Resources Insider Transactions Indicate?
There haven't been any insider transactions in the last three months -- that doesn't mean much. But insiders have shown more of an appetite for the stock, over the last year. It would be great to see more insider buying, but overall it seems like Tarku Resources insiders are reasonably well aligned (owning significant chunk of the company's shares) and optimistic for the future. So while it's helpful to know what insiders are doing in terms of buying or selling, it's also helpful to know the risks that a particular company is facing.
