Avante Insiders Added CA$1.17m Of Stock To Their Holdings

Over the last year, a good number of insiders have significantly increased their holdings in Avante Corp. (CVE:XX). This is encouraging because it indicates that insiders are more optimistic about the company's prospects.

Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.

Avante Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider purchase was by Founder Emmanuel Mounouchos for CA$1.1m worth of shares, at about CA$0.82 per share. That implies that an insider found the current price of CA$0.89 per share to be enticing. Of course they may have changed their mind. But this suggests they are optimistic. While we always like to see insider buying, it's less meaningful if the purchases were made at much lower prices, as the opportunity they saw may have passed. In this case we're pleased to report that the insider purchases were made at close to current prices.

While Avante insiders bought shares during the last year, they didn't sell. The chart below shows insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year. If you click on the chart, you can see all the individual transactions, including the share price, individual, and the date!

Insider Ownership

Many investors like to check how much of a company is owned by insiders. Usually, the higher the insider ownership, the more likely it is that insiders will be incentivised to build the company for the long term. Avante insiders own 41% of the company, currently worth about CA$8.9m based on the recent share price. I like to see this level of insider ownership, because it increases the chances that management are thinking about the best interests of shareholders.

So What Do The Avante Insider Transactions Indicate?

There haven't been any insider transactions in the last three months -- that doesn't mean much. On a brighter note, the transactions over the last year are encouraging. Judging from their transactions, and high insider ownership, Avante insiders feel good about the company's future.
